A: BAUIE+RAD is based in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Phoenix. While we’re rooted in these hubs, we regularly produce campaigns nationwide and internationally for global brands. We also have production teams in Toronto, New York, Georgia, and Miami.

Q. What’s it like on set with BAUIE+RAD?
A. Whether you’ve chosen us to produce an advertising photo shoot, an editorial photo shoot or to provide video production services, we treat all of our clients with the same care, respect and white glove service to make your day less stressful, more productive and memorably enjoyable. All your comfortable transportation to and from set is prearranged and thoroughly communicated in advance. Your time on set will center around a “Video village” with full visibility on the shoot for just you and your colleagues. All of your meals for the day will be catered. We pride ourselves on our Craft Service table – the notoriously addictive snack station. And midday coffee runs always help keep creative direction on track.
Q. Does Bauie+RAD post any photos or video of its clients' shoots?
A. We’re always very proud of our clients’ work and hope to help promote their creative content. We also strictly abide by confidentiality requirements and never post any material connected to your advertising photo shoot, editorial photo shoot or video productions unless and until you tell us it’s permitted. Some of our clients prefer to keep their creative direction a secret even after the content is made public, and we have never posted those images. Others encourage us to do so to help amplify their reach. We absolutely follow your lead.
Q. How much time does BAUIE+RAD need to plan and carry out a shoot?
A. Well, when you want something done, ask a busy person to do it! We very much appreciate having 3-4 weeks to plan and produce your advertising photo shoot, editorial photo shoot or video production. With that time horizon, we find there is a greater number of top-tier crew available, we have more options for studio space or obtaining permits for locations you may want, and we can spend plenty of time with your creative team understanding their vision and ensuring they have the resources they need. That said, if you’re in a hurry and need it done more expeditiously, you’ve come to the right production company.

A: Yes. We frequently partner with advertising agencies on creative campaigns, and we also work directly with brands depending on project needs.
Q: How involved can clients be in the creative process?
A: As much or as little as they’d like. Some clients prefer to collaborate closely on creative direction, while others trust us to manage the entire process. We’re flexible and adapt to each project.
Inclusion & Environmentalism
Q: How does BAUIE+RAD contribute to improving opportunity and inclusion in our industry?
A. One of our core beliefs is that creativity doesn’t have any boundaries, and artistic or technical excellence can reside in everyone. Those of us who have benefited from the production business came to it from many different origins; we each recall the break we got from a generous individual who let us try our hand at it. For that, and so many other reasons, we are determined to give everyone who is a dedicated and disciplined worker a chance to discover the opportunities this field can offer. We are an LGBTQ-owned business, 60% of our full-time staff is female, 20% is Black and we are very proud to have a talent roster we call upon to crew our shoots that is as diverse as the communities we shoot in.
Q: How do you integrate sustainability practices into your shoots?
A. When we first adopted our full suite of on-set sustainability practices in 2018, it was pretty new to the industry. We banished single-use plastic from catering and craft services – so no more plastic water bottles, or plastic plates and cutlery at meals. We deployed waste, recycling and composting trash bins all around set to better separate it and route it to the right landfill.
We started using renewable power to run low-impact energy needs, gave everyone stainless steel refillable bottles and set up water stations, and we started tracking our carbon footprint from Day One of pre-production until wrap so we could offset the total with a carbon credit. We still do all those things today, but they’ve become so second-nature to our shoots we hardly think of it as “making our shoots sustainable” – it’s just how we always operate.
